Course Structure What this course offers
This bee keeping course gives you the skills, knowledge and experience to be competent and feel confident working with live Bees. It is aimed at anyone looking to work with Bees as a hobby or career.

To achieve this beekeeping qualification, you must demonstrate competency in 13 core units and 5 elective units from the options below.
Core Units (13)
- AHCBEK203 – Open and reassemble a beehive
- AHCBEK205 – Prepare and use a bee smoker
- AHCBEK206 – Assemble and maintain beekeeping components
- AHCBEK301 – Manage honey bee swarms
- AHCBEK302 – Manipulate honey bee brood
- AHCBEK303 – Re-queen a honey bee colony
- AHCBEK304 – Remove a honey crop from a hive
- AHCBEK311 – Transport bee hives by road to new apiary site
- AHCBEK312 – Extract honey
- AHCBEK313 – Manage pests and disease within a honey bee colony
- AHCBEK405 – Select and establish an apiary site
- AHCWHS302 – Contribute to work health and safety processes
- AHCWRK318 – Comply with industry quality assurance requirements

The course duration will vary depending on your experience, skills and chosen study mode. As a guide:
- Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL): 4-24 months – this term may be extended by Funding Criteria, amount of RPL awarded and subsequent Gap Training required – eligibility criteria apply.
- Fee for service: 6 – 18 months subject to the amount of RPL awarded and subsequent Gap Training required
Your skills will be assessed through a mix of practical and theory tasks. Which is essentially showing us what you’ve learnt and how you do it.
Theory may be assessed Online or via Workbook. Practical Assessment will be conducted at your place of work or work site with fit for purpose facilities and equipment which are to be made available to your FTA trainer & Assessor for training and assessment purposes.
