Apprenticeship programs a major focus for 2019

The Queensland Government has entrusted $495,000 to four Australian organisations in an effort to boost the number of Apprentices across the state.

Traineeship and Apprenticeship programs provide a foot in the door for longstanding careers in the industry and they are critical for growing a skilled workforce into the future.

Acting Minister for Employment and Small Business and Minister for Training and Skills Development, The Honourable Mark Ryan, commented “All four organisations will match the investment, resulting in almost $1 million towards promoting apprenticeship programs across their industries throughout Queensland.”

“These combined activities will see a promotional campaign over the next 12 months to encourage awareness and the benefits of apprenticeships, not only to students and job seekers but to employers as well,”

This initiative forms part of the government’s Advancing Apprentices Fund (AAF) which will provide up to $1million in support of campaigns by the end of 2019. All in an effort to increase the number of businesses taking on an Apprentice in Queensland.

This investment is additional to the Apprentice Wage subsidy for Employers that was announced in late 2018.
