Course Structure What this course offers
This course covers the essential, basic knowledge and skills to confidently seek an apprenticeship in a range of construction trades.
Core Units
- CPCCWHS2001 – Apply WHS requirements, policies and procedures in the construction industry (Pre-requisite unit)
- CPCCVE1011* – Undertake a basic construction project
- CPCCCM2005* – Use construction tools and equipment
- CPCCCM2004* – Handle construction materials
- CPCCOM1012 – Work effectively and sustainably in the construction industry
- CPCWHS1001 – Prepare to work safely in the construction industry
- CPCCOM1013 – Plan and organise work
- CPCCCM1011 – Undertake basic estimation and costing
Elective Units
- CPCCOM1014 – Conduct workplace communication
- CPCCOM2001* – Read and interpret plans and specifications
- CPCCOM1015 – Carry out measurements and calculations
Graduates are able to confidently seek out an Apprenticeship in any specialised construction Trade. From Carpentry to Landscaping and Tiling, this course gives you the edge when applying for full-time Apprenticeships with Employers.
Pathway to a Trade Apprenticeship
Labourer
The course duration will vary depending on your experience, skills and chosen study mode. As a guide:
- Fee for service1-3 months subject to the amount of RPL awarded and subsequent Gap Training required
- Workshop: 1-3 months
Your skills will be assessed through a mix of practical and theory tasks. Which is essentially showing us what you’ve learnt and how you do it.
Theory may be assessed Online or via Workbook. Practical Assessment will be conducted at your place of work or work site with fit for purpose facilities and equipment which are to be made available to your FTA trainer & Assessor for training and assessment purposes.
